A Pretty Yarn Wreath
by Decorchick! on Wed, 31 Aug 2011
You all have seen them around, love them, and have probably made one yourself already. The beloved yarn wreaths.
I wanted to make one for Fall, but it turns out this wreath will pretty much match our house year-round without looking too Fall-y, so that’s a bonus.
It’s so simple to make one, but I’ll still go through the brief tutorial for ya.
First, buy your yarn and a wreath form.
You can use just one color, 2 colors, or multiple colors. Whatever floats your boat. For this one I chose a mustardy yarn color (endorsed by Ms. Vanna herself), and a yarn that was a brown/cream mix. And I bought the yarn at Hobby Lobby. I already had the spare wreath form.
Then since I was kind of making a “design” with mine, I marked where I wanted the different colors to be with a Sharpie, so they would all come out even.
And that method worked pretty well actually!
Then use a dab of hot glue on the back for your first piece and just wrap and wrap, and wrap some more. It took me a while. Maybe 2 or 3 hours? But I was doing it off and on so that’s probably why. And because my hand hurt.
Here she is all wrapped up (at night).
Then all you have to do is add a few embellishments…
And you’re done!
Isn’t it cute?! I just used a bit of hot glue to hang it on my new antique old window that I recently found. It lives on the mantel, which I’m still working on for Fall, but it’s lookin’ good and can’t wait to show y’all!

So tell me, have you made a yarn wreath yet? Do you love them? If you’ve made one and blogged about it already, feel free to post the link in the comment section. And don’t worry if it doesn’t show up right away–If there are too many links it thinks it’s spammy, but I’ll un-spam it. 🙂
